Welcome to my first “obsessions” post of 2016. First of all I can’t believe that the first month of the year is done! January has been a busy, but productive month for me as a blogger. It’s time to talk about the things that have made me happy this month.
I’m the type of person that is always making to-do lists, and when I get a new calendar I immediately write in the birthdays of all my close friends and family members. I love to be organized and I don’t have time for clutter. Time Management is sexy. I received my passion planner as a Christmas present from a very dear friend. It was exactly what I needed for 2016. Unlike most planners that are just oversized calendars, this planner has clear and easy to execute instructions about how to plan your life not just to get your errands done but how to achieve your goals. It shows you how to create a “Passion Plan” which is a big goal, and then you break it down into smaller steps which you then plug into your agenda. It also has extra space for journaling, brainstorming, and drawing. It has helped me take my to-do list to a get-done list because I am able to designate specific chunks of time to completing specific tasks and I can prioritize better. Passion Planner was created by the brilliant Angelia Trinidad. I encourage you to visit her site and read her story here. I have been able to get so much more done and prioritize what really matters to me using my passion planner. The one I have is blank so you can start using it anytime and they also have academic planners for students. This product is game changer and I highly recommend investing in it immediately.
My Knitting Projects!
My name is Lily and I love to knit! Knitting is my favorite DIY/Crafty/Creative Pastime. I have been a knitter on and off for years. I started knitting as a way to relieve my stress from a previous job. As a little girl my grandmother taught me how to crochet and that was how I feel in love with making things I could wear and the soft comforting texture of yarn. When I was searching for a new hobby I decided to challenge myself and learn how to knit. I started taking classes and I was soon making hats, socks, and baby blankets. Last year I took a hiatus from knitting but I am back on my projects and have even reorganized my yarn stash. This month I started making a simple scarf just to practice different types of stitches and get used to reading patterns again. Stay tuned for occasional updates on my knitting projects. One of my favorite tips to share with people who want to try knitting is to buy books that are writing for preteen girls. I know it sounds unusual, but knitting books written for kids or preteen girls have awesome pictures, they explain the techniques in a very straightforward manner, and the projects are quick and easy to knit so before you know it you can move on to more advance projects very soon. A great book for adults that I do like is Stitch & Bitch by Debbie Stoller. The photo above is my current project to get my skills sharp again before I start on my first sweater. And I would also like to note that knitting is not just a winter activity. If you start a project in the summer then by the time you finish it, then it’s probably cold enough to wear it or gift it to someone.
This is the first monthly ‘obsessions’ post that did not include any beauty products. This month I wanted to share some of the other things that I love and are excited about. I have tried a few awesome products recently so you will see them on the blog very soon.
If you have tried your hand at knitting please leave a comment below about your current project, or if you already have a Passion Planner I would love to hear about how it has worked for you.
